Kindly be informed that abolishment of retail licenses for mild steel round bars and cement to be effective from 15th July 2010. With reference to the Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the ministry abolished the price control on steel and cement in 2008. However, it maintained control on supply and licensing.

Although the steel round bars and cement has been exempted from retail license, but businesses must still comply with the Control Act 1974 (Akta Kawalan Bekalan 1974).

Kindly be informed that Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) had jointly signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the website “1BINA.MY” as National On-Line Construction Reference Index , on 27th July 2010 with MHMBA and 17 other associations.

The main objective of the website is to enable cross linking of websites between organisation, and to centralise the access of information for all parties, services, information and products related to construction industry. The website is also seeking for a cross-sectoral cooperation in order to achieve closer cooperation between industry.
